How to Reduce Your Carbon Pawprint

Sadly, did you know that your dog has a 50% chance of dying of cancer? Want to know the five steps that can significantly reduce your pet's chances of getting cancer? Here they are:

* Reduce or eliminate the use of commercial flea and tickproducts. They are poison.
* Stay away from using pesticides, herbicides and fungicides on your lawn and garden.
* Use non-toxic cleaning products for your home.
* If you must alter your dog or cat - don't do it too early in their lives.
* Eliminate or greatly minimize their exposure to vaccinations.

Purina admits they can't prevent carcinogenic and liver-damaging aflatoxins in their foods

. Don't think your "high quality" kibble doesn't contain them - 98% of pet foods tested contain harmful molds. Read more:
-THINKING OF CHANGING YOUR PET’S DIET? RIGHT NOW MIGHT BE THE TIME TO DO IT! I MEAN LIKE RIGHT NOW!!-
The annual harvests of corn and other grains, which are 100% contaminated with mycotoxins (aka mold), have been purchased and are destined for dogs’ and cats’ bowls!

Oh no... not another "corn is bad" blog.

Believe it or not, the top selling pet foods in North America today are primarily made up of corn. So what’s the big deal? If you haven’t been following the news, “A recent harvest analysis of 2013 corn and corn silage samples in the U.S. found 100% contamination with deadly mycotoxins.”

Guess what! Pet food manufacturers are using (with 100% permission) corn with mycotoxins at 20 ppb (parts per billion) in their
pet foods!

Last week, a Hong Kong study caught several manufacturers red-handed with pet food bags contaminated with carcinogen aflatoxin B1. (http://ow.ly/wcevX)

When one of the largest pet food manufacturers in the world was asked about why this mold was in their pet food, they scratched their heads while replying: “the carcinogen was an ‘unavoidable natural contaminant’ found in grains such as corn, barley and rice.”

WHAT KIND OF COMFORTING ANSWER IS THAT!?

An even bigger kicker? China doesn’t even want North American corn!

The Wall Street Journal reported: “China's tougher stance on imports of genetically modified corn is roiling U.S. agribusiness. […] By one industry estimate, exports are down by 85% compared with last year. Since mid-November, China repeatedly has refused shipments of U.S. corn…”

Mold isn’t corn’s only problem. According to mercola.com, GMO corn is lacking in a ton of nutrients compared good ol’ fashion unaltered corn.

• Calcium: GMO corn = 14 ppm / Non-GMO corn = 6,130 ppm (437 times more)
• Magnesium: GMO corn = 2 ppm / Non-GMO corn = 113 ppm (56 times more)
• Manganese: GMO corn = 2 ppm / Non-GMO corn = 14 ppm (7 times more)

“GMO corn was also found to contain 13 ppm of glyphosate, compared to zero in non-GMO corn. […]
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “safe” level for glyphosate in American water supplies is 0.7 ppm. In Europe, the maximum allowable level in water is 0.2 ppm. Organ damage in animals has occurred at levels as low as 0.1 ppm... At 13 ppm, GMO corn contains more than 18 times the “safe” level of glyphosate set by the EPA.”

Although some may say the levels of mold are low, millions of pets are forced to eat the same type of food forever, and long-term exposure can seriously destroy your pet!

If there was ever a time to switch foods, and you have been contemplating a diet change for your furry friend, the time may be now!

"An owner’s scent activates the parts of a dog‘s brain associated with pleasure, a new brain-imaging study says.
Thus, a dog encountering its owner’s smell could feel in some way like a person reacting to the perfume or cologne of a loved one, according to study leader Gregory Berns, a neuroeconomist at Emory University in Atlanta."

TOXINS IN YOUR PETS FOOD!

Researchers in China recently tested 39 brands of dog and cat food for contaminants. Seven of these contained aflatoxin, a dangerous poison produced by moldy corn. Aflatoxin can build up in a dog's body over time and cause cancer or damage the liver. Two of the samples contained melamine (or the related compound, cyanuric acid). This potentially deadly additive was responsible for killing hundreds of pets in the USA in 2007. Although all of the contaminant levels were "within safety limits" and the products tested were destined for Chinese pets, some of the products found to contain aflatoxin and/or melamine included these popular USA brands: AvoDerm, Hill's Science Diet, Iams, Purina, and Solid Gold. How do you feel about this news? How will this report affect your own dog food shopping habits? http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/cancer-causing-aflatoxins-found-in-dog-foods/

Has your Vet learned this yet?

“While attending conferences like WSVMA and NAVMC I have asked over 400 DVMs from various parts of the country if they attended the seminars on New Vaccination Protocols. I was told by all but one, “I don’t care what the data says, I am not changing.” - Dr Bob Rogers

JERKY TREATS ARE BACK!

All brands! SAY NO.

Just say no.

Dog and cat lovers - Have you noticed chicken jerky treats are making a comeback in pet stores? The majority of the packages now sport "Made in USA" labeling. In this revealing article, Dr Dr Anette Heaslet, a veterinarian, explains why she's not so sure that these treats are safe. How do you feel about these newly introduced treats? Do you believe they should be considered safe simply because they claim to be "Made in the USA" on their packaging? http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/fda-chicken-jerky-inspections/

Champion Pet Foods to Manufacture in Kentucky

Yes, that means Acana and Orijen.  More to come.  Not so thrilled at this point.

PLEASE READ AND SHARE! If you have adopted from us, one of the foods we have recommended in Acana. There are changes coming, and for now, I'm not thinking for the better. Am looking to switch dogs to NOW by Petcurean Pet Nutrition . We usually only put the tiny ones on NOW Fresh Small Breed, and also recommend other supplemental feeding too such as Stella and Chewys and some home cooked. This is why we are concerned, please read the links! We buy Canadian food to get away from AAFCO's MINIMAL standards.

This was posted on their FB page.

Pet Lovers-
We’re happy to announce that we are building a third kitchen in Auburn, Kentucky!
Our new kitchen in Kentucky will be custom designed to advance our Biologically Appropriate and Fresh Regional Ingredient mandate and support the growth of ACANA & ORIJEN worldwide.
The rich agricultural heritage and proximity to ranches and farms make Kentucky the perfect choice for our newest kitchen.
Champion’s Canadian kitchens will continue to supply ACANA and ORIJEN to the pet specialty market in Canada, Europe and Asia, while the new Kentucky kitchens will supply the USA.
ACANA and ORIJEN “Made in Kentucky” foods will be made available in 2016.

And about the Wild Boar in the Orijen formula.

As of now,  we are looking into foods, but will be switching our own to NOW Small Breed and NOW SR.  and or/GO which is comparative to Orijen.  All the while we will be looking for other foods that are up to the standards we believe in.

Purina One Smart Blend Chicken & Rice Formula Adult Dog Food
Hill’s Science Diet Adult Optimal Care Cat Food
AvoDerm Natural Chicken & Herring Meal Formula Adult Cat Food
Purina told the South China Morning Post the carcinogen was an “unavoidable natural contaminant” found in grains such as corn, barley and rice. AvoDerm, stated“it had since replaced the corn in its formula that was believed to be the source of the carcinogen.”

And then the bad news continues. The Consumer Council reported their testing found melamine in:

Run free Sierra!

"Sierra Our Dearest Free Spirit ... may you run and play to your hearts content with no evil surrounding you. May you have an abundance of food, tennis balls, old pants, and no more fear. Until we meet again!"

Many of you may have heard of this horrific animal welfare story out of Stevens County back in February.

The REAL heroes in this situation were certainly was not those that you would expect. The Hero was the Case Worker who wouldn’t take the Sheriff’s Department answer of “we’ll see what we can do” and went above and beyond to make the system work. The Heroes were the many VOLUNTEERs who spent multiple days on the toxic contaminated property; getting the rest of the living animals to safety and providing a proper burial for those who suffered. And finally, the Heroes were the animals who endured every day, year after year, and died horrific deaths because Officials told the community and neighbors to “mind their own business” and “We can’t tell someone to give up their animals just ‘cuz they have too many.”

Legally, yes they can. The RCW’s Chapter 16 regarding animal cruelty, abuse and neglect are complete, thorough, and the LAW! However, it would appear they are above it all and have a mistaken belief they don't have to enforce them, nor educate themselves on the correlation between animals, children, elderly, and the escalating CRIME! The players are corrupt and have not been held accountable to do their jobs PERIOD! We cannot have a civil society unless all the players play by the rules and there must be consequences for those who violate the rules.
